Chairman Stickan: Building on Our Wins, Eyes on 2024

I want to thank our dedicated volunteers and supporters for their tireless work on behalf of Republican candidates this election cycle. Despite the outcome on the statewide ballot initiatives, the Republican Party of Cuyahoga County was a leader in voter education and engagement thanks to the passion of our grassroots team. State Chairman Alex Triantafilou commended our work making more phone calls (on Issues 1 and 2) than any other county party in the state.

While we had a tough result on Issue 1 last night, we will continue advocating for life and for policies that protect the most vulnerable. This cause is bigger than any one election.

We also secured major wins across Cuyahoga County last night. Republicans now hold a majority on the Parma Board of Education with the election of Ashley McTaggart and Brittany Kurpik. We picked up a judicial seat with Joe Burke, who was successful in his race for Rocky River Municipal Court. We made history with Judge Sergio DiGeronimo’s big win in the Garfield Hts. Municipal Court- the first Republican to be elected to this seat. We retained Judge Tim Sterkel in South Euclid Municipal Court and Judge Dominic Coletta at Lyndhurst Municipal Court. We retained all of our Mayors and saw the election of a new Mayor in Valley View and Gates Mills. This was in addition to retaining all of our endorsed incumbent school board members and wins in other local races around the county. In total, 85 of our 118 endorsed candidates emerged victorious despite a tough electorate with unprecedented turnout.

With these pickups, the Republican Party has built momentum heading into the 2024 election cycle. I am confident our values of limited government, fiscal conservatism, and individual liberty will resonate with voters. We have laid the groundwork for winning up and down the ballot.

I look forward to working with our newly elected officials as we promote our positive policy agenda for Cuyahoga County. Thank you again to our volunteers whose efforts made these victories possible. Onward to 2024!
